West Jordan Cheer Team Appeals for Help in Search for Missing Athlete and Mother

A cheerleading program in West Jordan is calling on the public for assistance after one of its athletes and her mother were reported missing during a trip to Las Vegas.

In a message shared online, Utah Xtreme Cheer stated that the athlete and her mom failed to arrive at a scheduled competition and have not responded to calls or messages.

“This is not something we ever imagined posting, but we need the cheer community’s support,” the organization wrote. “We are deeply concerned at this point. Law enforcement has been notified.”

A missing persons flyer identifies the two as Tawnia McGeehan and Addi Smith. They were reportedly last seen on February 14 at approximately 8 p.m. at the New York-New York Hotel.

According to the team, it is out of character for them to miss a competition without communication, which has heightened concern among coaches, teammates, and loved ones.

Utah Xtreme Cheer is urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to immediately call or text 385-985-7249. The organization is also encouraging the public to share the alert broadly to increase visibility.

Individuals who may have seen them are asked to contact local law enforcement in Las Vegas or reach out directly to the family as the search continues.
